About Me

Hello there!
I’m Cath and I am a sustainable fibre artist using found and foraged plant fibres from my local area in the Perth Hills.
Plants have always been a huge part of my life, from gardening with my mum as a little one to studying Horticulture when I finished school. Connecting to nature is a constant for me and has kept me grounded in this crazy world.
Working as a gardener and being in nature, I come across endless possibilities that fuelled my inspiration to put them to use in a practical and aesthetic way. This is where my love for weaving was born. I started to play around making things from the prunings. I then did some YouTube tutorials and an online course. From there, it really did take over in the best way possible. I felt like it was something I had done before in a past life as it felt so right and just came so naturally to me.
I love to bring people together and inspire them to be creative. It’s so good for us as humans, and you should NEVER feel guilty for making time to express yourself creatively. Everybody should be able to experience the joy and freedom of creativity.
I think it’s really important to learn the art of basketry, which was once so important to our existence and survival. We must continue to pass on this ancient knowledge, which is in danger of becoming lost.
As you can tell, creating sculptural and functional art from what might be seen as garden waste or weeds brings me buckets of joy, and I would love to share with you my passion for all things basketry and weaving!
Welcome to my garden

Touring the 1 acre garden where you learn how to identify plants, gather plant materials, and prepare this material for weaving, is one of the highlights of the classes.
